KMS ProfitPower Tips for Lawyers 31.10.11

PPTip # Out-sourcing (overseas and within Australia) of legal support services is proceeding apace...while many of the big firms are involved to reduce costs and ensure that the availability of labour during ups and downs of the business cycle is not their problem, there is plenty of scope for small firms to get their toe in the water in this regard too...

The out-sourcing needn't necessarily be done in Asia...New Zealand is a big current option...well-educated workforce, no language problems, Recession, cheap labour, and the Aussie is presently buying about 30% more in NZ currency...

PPTip #Use of the Internet for marketing is really ramping up...but as usual the bigger players are those with the dollars to spend to get advice, test like crazy, and move fast when opportunities are demonstrated. Successes of others are easily observed on the Web, the traffic they're getting, what they're doing, key words they're using, so succeeding as a small player will attract competitors in your area of interest as if you're surrounded by blood in the water!

By all means be there so long as you're clearly getting good returns for your funds, but relationships where you get steady referrals are an area the big competitors cannot attack...you should be working on a few of those at any given time...and build your Contact Management database and use it!
